6 months have passed since our latest major release, since that we have been working hard to improve INM.

Many of the new and improved features you will find in INM 3.3 are based on the feedback we get from you, our users. For us its an great opportunity to have this arsenal of professionals helping us making a better product.

Among the array of new feature listed below there is one "feature" that we are especially proud of, we call it "less is more". Based on real world parallel testing with the old version of INM and the new 3.3 release, we see the following improvements:

Memory consumption: 35% less than previous version
CPU usage: 20% less than previous version

In times where every new software release often means the opposite, twice as large, twice the CPU hog, we are really proud of this. Not only will INM thrive on your current hardware, it will be able to sustain allot more work on the same machine.

Reports
The report system has been given an overhaul in version 3.3. You can now easily generate reports for selected objects or networks, with only a few clicks and view the result directly in the browser. This new version also adds several advanced Report items available for use in your reports, such as Data tables and Downtime reports. INM version 3.3 comes pre-configured with several new and useful Report templates. Report generation speed for complex reports has also been greatly improved and memory consumption during report generation is now drastically lower.

Dependency trees
Dependency trees are rewritten from the ground up, both the algorithm used for testing and the way you edit them. We now how two types of dependency trees, local and global. Local dependency trees are automatic, you select the root monitor in the object and INM does the rest, always testing the root monitor first and then the dependent monitors. Did I mention that they work with object templates also ?

Global dependency trees are the dependency trees they way you remember them, you can compose them from any monitor in your configuration. The editing have been upgraded with drag and drop, to make it easier to visualize the tree while your editing.

The algorithm is changed to promote monitors higher up in the tree, they are tested more often, lower nodes are tested less frequently, but roughly according to their "normal" testing schedule. This means less false alarms.

New extended layout
To accommodate more information on the screen we decided to increase the width of the interface, after asking you and checking our web site statistics. according to the poll respondents nobody used a lower resolution than 1024x768 and 95% of all visitors to our web site had that resolution or higher.

Distributed testing security
Distributed testing is a unique feature of INM and have always been a very secure feature, building on the foundation of the secure and peer-reviewed SSH 2.0 protocol. We have now further updated this and added a IP tar pit on the server, to slow down attempts to flood the server with login attempts.

Lua improvements
The built-in programming language Lua have become even more powerful with a range of new libraries.

The two major new additions are the library for WMI queries and Database access. We have already seen some very interesting user made scripts during the beta phase and I'm it will keep pouring in more scripts after the release. You can find these new scripts at our customer portal (http://customer.intellipool.se) together with many other things.

Sensatronic Senturion
Our cooperation with Sensatronics continues and we are proud to be the first software product to fully support their newest offering, the Senturion.

System administrator console
A GUI is great, but some tasks are simply easier to perform in a command line interface. Thats why INM now have an system administration console that have a range of commands making it easier to do certain administration tasks.

Object multi edit
You can now edit several objects at the same time, just select them in the object list and click edit. Its a complement to the object template system.

That some of the improvements in INM, I hope you like it!
